Hui (Daisy) You
Artistic Director
Hui (Daisy) You is a distinguished Zheng (Guzheng, Chinese Zither) soloist and an acclaimed Chinese music educator. Since 2004, she has been on the faculty of the Department of Music at Stanford University. She currently co-chairs the United States International Music Competition and serves on the Board of Directors of the Chinese Music Teacher’s Association in Northern California. She studied with Baoquan He, Wenyan Sun, Zheng Cao, Ying Guo, Boling Ding, Yanjia Zhou, and Yuzhai Zhao. In 1987, she graduated summa cum laude with a BA degree in Zheng from the Shanghai Conservatory.
Hui You joined the Shanghai Opera as a Zheng soloist after commencement and also won many prestigious awards, including first place in the Shanghai Spring Music Festival in 1986, Awards of Excellence in both the Chinese Instruments Contest held in Beijing in 1989 and the Zheng contest sponsored by Chinese Central TV Station (CCTV) in the same year. She released several popular solo albums featuring traditional and modern pieces. Since her immigration to the US in 1991, she has appeared as a soloist in the Ohlone Symphonic Pops Orchestra, New Music Works, San Jose Chamber Orchestra, and San Francisco World Music Festival.

Jinwen Sun
Dr. Jinwei Sun is a composer, conductor, and pianist with a diverse academic background, including a doctorate in Asian music from UC Santa Cruz, a Bachelor's from the Central Conservatory of Music in China, and a Master's from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
Sun's compositions have been performed by notable ensembles such as the Del Sol Quartet, International Contemporary Ensemble, and Ensemble Dal Niente, as well as renowned performers across various traditions. Her works have also been featured by major orchestras, including the Sichuan Symphony Orchestra. A student of esteemed mentors like Lei Liang, Brian Ferneyhough, and Cindy Cox, Dr. Sun is also an accomplished performer and conductor, with performances at Alice Tully Hall and Carnegie Hall.
Committed to expanding music accessibility, Sun has received a Point of Light Award for her contributions to nonprofit music initiatives in Queens.
